Education CECM Leads County Delegation To KMTC Main Campus
A delegation from County Education Revolving Fund led by Dr. Janeth Kosgei – CECM Education, Vocational Training Gender, Social protection and Culture on Wednesday visited KMTC Nairobi to secure slots for September intake.
During the meeting, the CECM mention that due to Budget constraints, the county requested to postpone the slots to September 2023 intake to tackle the issue of pending bills for ongoing medical students supported by the County Education Revolving Fund.
Dr. Kenneth Riany, the Deputy CEO, Dr. Lucy Waweru (Ph.D.) Academic Registrar and Accountant Stephen Kisukwa thanked the County of Uasin Gishu for the cordial relationships and partnership in supporting their medical students trained at the college.
The college emphasized adhering to the policies in place for fee payment.
Further, KMTC Deputy CEO emphasized the need to relook into other medical courses apart from nursing to satisfy the job market.
Other members in attendance were Pius Mosbei – Ag. Director Education revolving fund, Beatrice Bichiy and Robert Cheborgei.
Later, the team paid a visit to Railway Training Institute Nairobi College. They were hosted by Joyce Chune, Registrar and Livingston Andafu head of engineering faculty RTI.
CECM Kosgey thanked the institute for the good training programs and mainly for accepting students supported by Uasin Gishu county who underwent training successfully.
The Institute is considered one of the best in the country in training skills on locomotives, mechanical engineering and electrical installation.
Chune noted that the institute has created a link between the industry and the skills trained to close gaps in unemployment.
The institute has also embraced a competency-based curriculum and they are involving the resource persons direct from industry to be part of trainers.
On her part, The CECM lauded the institute for training students on the right and priority skills for the industry which is a game changer in the first world economy.
New slots were requested for the May intake in the unique areas especially marine and blue economy.
“We are looking forward to more engagements together to bring change in our County Government,” said the CECM.
On his part., Andafu emphasized on the need for standardization of qualifications and categorizing skills of personnel to recognize the best skills for better performances.
