Soy Sub-county Wards Unveil BEST Bet For The Cup Finals
Kipsangui men’s team capitalized on their home advantage to win the Soy Ward’s Governor’s Cup Volleyball Tournament trophy on Sunday.
Playing under cloudy skies, Kipsangui shrugged off the morning cold to win their final match against Bulukui, taking the first two sets 25-15 and 25-21, before Pulukui won the third 25-23 and lost the fourth 25-12. Kiwato and Vumilia teams were third and fourth.
Kiwato Vocational Training College won in the ladies category, with Rimoi and Kipsangui finishing second and third respectively. The contest was held at Kipsangui Primary.
TMC men shrugged off pre-march lacklustre to win the Moi’s Bridge Ward trophy after seeing off an equally stubborn Katutwet 2-1.
Katutwet won the first set 25-24 but TMC bounced back to win the second 25-22 and the last 25-20, to be crowned the ward champions.
To advance to the finals, TMC beat Baharini 2-0 in best of three of 25-15 and 25-21 while Katutwet narrowly overpowered Kilima 2-1 (25-22, 19-25 and 25-20.
In Segero/Barsombe Ward, Equator men were crowned the winners in a contest played at Ng’eny Primary. Lower Moiben, Equator and Chelabal followed in that order. Kiborokwo won the ladies’ category.
Kuresok humbled Emgwen 3-0 of 25-18, 25-20, 25:21, as Kisomba ruled the roost in the ladies category, in the Kipsomba Ward competition.
County Executive for Youth and Sports, Eng Lucy Ng’endo, asked the youth to form groups and cooperative societies, as in addition to sports empowerment programs, the county also has loaning programs for groups. Sports Chief Officer and Director, Nahum Jelagat and Peter Ruto, respectively, also witnessed the action at the wards.
