Bungoma Political Leaders Fault Privatization Of Nzoia Sugar
Bungoma Political leaders led by Governor Kenneth Lusaka have faulted plans by the State to sell ailing Nzoia Sugar Company to a local sugar dealer.
The Leaders through a press conference said Privatisation move was ill advised and cane farmers stand to lose.
Kabuchai legislature on his part appealed to President William Ruto to consider handing over the cash strapped factory to Bungoma county Government instead of selling.
Lusaka called for a structured engagement as far as privatisation is concerned. “The process should not be done in a hurry because the interests of farmers might not be catered for” said Lusaka.
Bungoma Senator David Wakoli, Woman MP Catherine Wambilianga and MPs John Makali, Didmus Barasa, vowed to ensure no one takes over the sugar miller warning of “serious consequences”
