Governor Bii Adminstration Increases Surveillance Over Cholera Outbreak
The County Department of Health Services is increasing surveillance and prevention measures for cholera disease outbreaks in all wards.
Speaking during a stakeholder engagement meeting at the county headquarters, Chief Officer for Clinical Services, Dr. Paul Wangwe, urged the stakeholders to work together with the County to control and eradicate the disease.
It was noted that diarrhoeal cases are mostly reported in Pioneer, Huruma and Langas and that three treatment centers of Pioneer, RCEA Langas and Huruma are serving as control centers.
Cholera is an acute diarrhoeal disease caused by infection of the intestine with Vibrio cholera bacteria. People can get sick when they consume contaminated food or water as the infection is often mild or without symptoms, but can sometimes be severe and life-threatening.
