Governor Natembeya crowned New Trans Nzoia Red Cross Patron
Trans Nzoia Governor George Natembeya has been inaugurated the Red Cross movement Patron for the county.
Natembeya was crowned at Kitale’s Town Hall Boardroom by the organization’s Francis Koech,the NEC Member on Thursday.
The Governor will perform among other duties the resource mobilization for the organization,Gracing the organization’s functions,liasing with the management of Red Cross on managing disasters and help in lobbying and negotiating for donors to fund the organization’s activities.
Koech said the functions of Red Cross will be auxilary and not to compete with either the National or County governments.
The patron will also give guidance on water provision,hygiene,sanitation and food security at Red Cross.
Addressing after the inauguration,Natembeya thanked the organization for the trust they have in him.
He said he will perform his roles with dedication and commitment.
“I want to thank you for appointing me to this important position,I accept it and promise to discharge all duties as entailed in the position”said Natembeya.
The Governor said Red Cross performs essential servoces in saving lives and always responding to emergencies in difficult situations.
He added that his government will enahance collaborations in most of the areas especially in capacity building with Red Cross.
Responding to the officials of the organization on the need to allocate more space for the county Red Cross offices,Natembeya said he will convene with his land officers to mull on whether the county can allocate it more land.
During the event,the Red Cross handed over it’s constitution and a strategy plan of upto 2025 as the instruments of power of the office.
Present were more than 50 Red Cross members among them senior officials from both the region and the National office,all CEC members and chief officers and some county employees.
