A man and his wife have walked 367Km from Lodwar town in Turkana County to Eldoret, Uasin Gishu in what was dubbed as, “A walk of faith, is a walk for peace”

Dr. Lochodo Malcom and his wife Christine Lochodo braved the hot sun, chilly nights, and above all the fear of attacks from bandits along the Kitale – Lodwar Highway to make it to Eldoret the Economic hub for the North Rift Counties.

“I have walked 367 kilometers dubbed ‘A walk of Faith is a walk for Peace’ We have had more than 26 youths and we have arrived here in Eldoret town. The youths have come from West Pokot, Trans Nzoia, and Turkana Counties. It took us 8 days to arrive here in Eldoret town. We have been focusing on matters of love and peace. We have talked to those we found along the way calling them to promote peace and love.” Said Dr. Malcom Lochodo, Restoration Harvest Mission.

Highlighting the impact of their noble cause, the pastor claims people have embraced their message as results are already being felt in some of the places they have visited.

“There was a place in West Pokot popularly known as Lami Nyeusi but we left the place after renaming it Lami Nyeupe because the people of Pokot and Turkana agreed to come together, listened to one another, hugged afterward and now they are living together. Now the area is peaceful. The areas around Kakong to Kainuk then Lami Nyeusi now Lami Nyeupe has been problematic but we’ve passed through those areas praying on the roads and we pray to God to do His will.” added the Clergyman.

Dr. Malcolm also called on the government to look into the attacks witnessed on matatus plying the routes in these areas while urging the government to distinguish the roles of the Kenya Defence Forces and National Police Service deployed in those areas to ensure there is peace. He demanded for the criminals causing insecurity in these areas be brought to book and called on the elected leaders to use their voices and the power given to them to ensure there is peace and tranquility.

“I plead with the government to keenly look into the matters of traders and business people residing around those areas, especially the Matatu sector. Because there are no attacks on buses or lorries but matatus have been mostly attacked. Could it be business rivalry? We need to unearth what is happening there.

The government should look at defining the roles of NPS and KDF, it’s not very clear. We are told there is an operation but we are not sure what is going on. It is also high time those people attacking people on our roads are called criminals and not bandits or the Pokots. Those who are criminals should be brought to the book and our leaders should begin speaking to each other because if they say these activities should end then definitely it would end. Let them speak.” Concluded Dr.Malcolm
