“Trans Nzoia Governor and Kenya Association of Manufacturers discuss boosting industrialization and job creation”
Trans Nzoia County Governor George Natembeya, today held discussions with representatives from the Kenya Association of Manufacturers (KAM) on ways to boost industrialization in the county. During the meeting, they emphasized the need to create an enabling environment for businesses to thrive, which includes adequate infrastructure, access to finance, and a skilled workforce. They also discussed the importance of promoting the county as an attractive investment destination to create a conducive business environment.
Governor Natembeya highlighted the untapped potential of the region and the need to focus on industrialization and value addition to available resources to create jobs and spur economic growth. He also mentioned that his administration is collaborating with the national government to establish an Export Processing Zone (EPZ) in the county to further boost industrialization.
The North Rift Chairman of KAM, Mr. William Ong’are, expressed his optimism about the partnership, which he believes will see linkages established with manufacturing investors. Other attendees of the meeting included the Deputy Governor, Dr. Philemonah Binea Kapkory, County Secretary, Mrs. Truphosa Amere, CEC Trade, Stanley Kirui, and representatives from Khetia’s Supermarket.
Trans Nzoia County is endowed with natural resources and skilled manpower that can be utilized for industrialization and economic growth. Governor Natembeya’s efforts to create an enabling environment for businesses and attract investment in the region could potentially lead to the creation of more job opportunities for the local population.
