Kapsabet High School to Hold It’s Annual National Mathematics Contest This Saturday
Kapsabet High School will conduct its Annual National Mathematic Contests.
According to the coordinator Mr. Kipchumba Korir the event is aimed at creating a platform for learners to showcase their prowess in mathematics.
The event will be held at the school premises on 20th May 2023
“Our Annual National Mathematics Contest will be held at the school premises. The top performing student will be given the scholarship to study in Australia Courtesy of Grace International,” said Mr. Korir .
He further noted that the event is geared towards boosting performance in mathematics and that the best student overall in the Form four category will earn a scholarship to study in Australia after form four, courtesy of Grace International.
“Schools participating in the contest are expected to present one or more teams per class. A team is comprised of 10 students of a particular class. The top learner from Day school will get a whole year’s scholarship,” he added.
Mr Korir noted that the top schools in the contest will get trophies and other awards and that the top students in each category will get individual awards.
“During the contests learners share learning experiences, learners are made to appreciate the importance of Mathematics in daily lives and in building their careers, especially the STEM courses (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics),” he said.
He noted that for the last 20 years, most learners who have taken part in the contest succeeded in KCSE exams and consequently in joining competitive courses within the country and across the globe.
Johnson Musungu, the top performer in last year’s contest is so delighted as he is set to pursue his studies in Australia later this year.
He said the chief principal of Kapsabet High School Mr Kipchumba Maiyo has been a great role model, mentor, and advocate of good performance. He is always keen to mentor teachers, leaders, and learners.
