Kesses MP Want Residents to Be Given Title Deeds
Kesses Member of Parliament, Julius Ruto has urged CS Interior Kithure Kindiki to help residents get title deeds.
Ruto says most of the farms have no title deeds putting them a risk of being grabbed.
Land issues in the sub-county have blocked the initiation of major development projects in the region.
“For many years, we have been facing this problem of title deeds. We were promised by the government that this issue will be looked into and we are glad that the Minister is here and that our pleas will be looked into very soon,” said Ruto.
Kesses is one of the constituencies in which residents have been looking for title deeds but in vain.
It has been grappling with the land question which subsequent regimes have been unable to or were unwilling to resolve.
Locals living in this area have been struggling with the land eviction threats between communities and well-known personalities for many years even though there are senior community members who have accurate data with regard to the parcel of land.
The CS interior Kithure Kindiki, in a rejoinder, noted that his Ministry together with the Ministry of Lands will ensure that in less than 3 months, all public and private lands will receive title deeds.
“Title deeds are very vital in the ownership of property. It gives one security of their property. Therefore, in a span of 3 months, cases in regard to title deeds in this area will be unheard of. This will scare away predators who acquire land illegally,” said Kindiki.
