Super Star FC players beat a Referee in Yambio
A referee serving under the Yambio Local Football Association by the names of Paulino Munga was physically assaulted by unidentified players of Super Star FC this afternoon at the Yambio Freedom Square during a second Division game against CCEWO FC.
Speaking to Yambio Sports Hub shortly after the game, Mr Tyson John Wani who’s the Chairperson of the referees in Yambio confirmed that one of his referees was beaten by a section of players of Super Star FC.
” Super Star was losing 1-0 to CCEWO until the 80th Minute of the game when a player from Super Star who was already on a yellow card scored using his hand and the goal was disallowed and then given a red card which prompted the other players to physically attack the center Referee” Tyson stated.
He further mentioned that they will compile a report and send to the organizing Committee for further actions.
On his part, Coach Sagamu Ramsey who’s also on suspension confirmed to Yambio Sports Hub in a telephone interview that he was not able to control the actions of his players as he was not on touchline.
“I condemn the behaviors of some of the players this afternoon as this is unacceptable in the world of football but also our referees should officiate games fairly to avoid certain scenarios” Sagamu said
There has been a rise in the cases of physical assault of Referees in Yambio, Maridi and Mundri. Few days ago, the suspension of 4 players from different clubs was lifted after serving a one year ban for similar incidents.
