Dr. Catherine Nyongesa Advises Us on Ill Effects of Tobacco
The founder and Chief Executive Officer of Texas Cancer Center Dr. Catherine Nyongesa has taken a moment to share with us the dangers that continuous use of tobacco poses.
In an interview with a *leading TV station* , Dr. Catherine Nyongesa termed tobacco use as a risk factor for throat cancer.
She puts it this way:
“Every packet of cigarette you buy from the shop, it has warning signs that consumption of tobacco is harmful to your health. People ignore. The chemical in cigarette can cause cancer in the windpipe as well as in the digestive tract.
Tobacco has been known as one of the highest risk factor for cancer especially lung cancer, throat cancer, oesophagus cancer, pancreatic, stomach, breast, cancer.
Throat and lung cancer top the list.
Dr. Nyongesa adds,
“nicotinne makes people high making people addicted to it. The more you try it the more you become dependent. What they don’t know is that if you look keenly excessive consumption of tobacco reduces lifespan by more than 20 years.
The use of tobacco can also bring cardiovascular disease. Many people who smoke have chronic lung disease.
When you inhale nicotine into your air passage, it gets its way to the food pipe hence messing up these critical parts of the body.”
From our desk we take this Singular opportunity to wish Dr Catherine Nyongesa nothing but God’s immeasurable blessings in whatever she does.
