Road Department to Work Closely With County Assembly for Enhanced Service Delivery

The County Government of Uasin Gishu’s Department of Roads and Transport Management team on Monday, 12th June held a fruitful collaborative meeting with County Assembly Roads, Transport and Public Works committee members to deliberate on ways to work closely for enhanced service delivery.

The team from the department was led by County Executive Committee Member Eng. Joseph Lagat while the Committee was led by its chairperson Hon. Gilbert Chepkonga(MCA Ainabkoi/Olare Ward) and majority leader Hon Julius Sang (MCA Megun Ward).

In the meeting, there were discussions and deliberations on key issues of road projects inspection procedures, reinstatement of all heavy machines, managing and sustaining of service providers, collaboration during the project implementation process, and more allocation of funds for fuel for more work to be done, among others.

“As a department, we have made significant progress by paying all the pending bills to our service providers to improve confidence,” CECM Eng Lagat told the committee.

The Chairperson of the Committee Hon Chepkonga pledged to the Roads team that they are ready to support all measures to make service providers happy for the department to achieve its targets.

“We want to collaborate to ensure timely payment for contractors and avoid unnecessary delays so that implementation of road projects can be expedited, ” Hon Chepkonga said.

On his part Chief Officer Roads Eng. Abraham Kiptalam said they have taken action to bring all machines to life by servicing those that had broken down.

Later, the county team handed over a document detailing all areas that will require collaboration and support for better execution and implementation of projects onwards.
