DG Barorot Wants Land Registry Digitalized
Uasin Gishu Deputy Governor John Barorot now wants the land registry digitalized.
This will reduce the cases of file loss and easy processing of title deeds.
“I want to request the Ministry of Lands to digitalize its records such that there will be no instance where files have been lost,” said the deputy governor.
He further noted that this will prevent instances of citizens losing their hard copy title deeds since digital forms are more secure and easy to retrieve when needed.
The Deputy Governor has urged residents to embrace the act of transferring the possession of the title deed upon change of ownership of the land and disregard the culture of ancestral possession.
“When it comes to succession of land, most of you do not actually transfer title deeds and I therefore want to request that it should be transferred to the people who are living on the land; it should be recurrent,” added Engineer Barorot.
As Eldoret town is on its way to acquiring city status, various efforts by different sponsors such as Conditional Grants from European Union have played a vital role in the issue of land title deeds advancing this conferment move.
