Dedan Kimathi Foundation Participates in Kaptagat Forest Tree Planting
Today 1st July 2023, Dedan Kimathi Foundation took part in the 7th Edition of the Annual Kaptagat Forest Tree Planting exercise. The initiative of the National Treasury PS, Dr. Chris K. Kiptoo took place in Kessup Forest Block situated in Kerio Valley; Elgeyo Marakwet County.
The event was hosted by the Environment and Forestry CS Hon. Soipan Tuya and attended by H.E. Dr. William Ruto and his deputy H.E Rigathi Gachagua among other state dignitaries who emphasized on the great need to grow trees to mitigate climate change negative effects and support agricultural production.
His Excellency the president urged Kenyans to grow 100 trees annually towards the attainment of his government’s goal of 30% tree cover before the year 2032.
Dedan Kimathi Foundation donated 10,000 Juniperus procera (Red cider) tree seedlings to the initiative as its contribution towards Kapteren intergrated dams protection.
