PS Muthoni Meets Kenya’s Envoy to Canada
Principal Secretary Mary Muthoni from the State Department for Public Health and Professional Standards had a productive meeting with Kenyan High Commissioner to Canada, H.E Immaculate Wambua.
The focus of their discussion was to explore potential collaborations between Kenya and Canada in the healthcare sector, with a particular emphasis on enhancing nursing and midwifery education, improving professional standards, and seizing global opportunities.
One of the highlights of the meeting was the commendation given by High Commissioner Wambua to Kenyan nurses working in Canada. These nurses have been exemplary models of global collaboration, and their contributions are greatly appreciated. As a result, the High Commission plans to engage the Canadian Government to foster collaboration that supports the professional growth of Kenyan nurses abroad.
In addition to recognizing the achievements of Kenyan nurses, the officials also discussed other priority areas of collaboration for Universal Health Coverage. Maternal and newborn care, Non-Communicable Diseases (NCDs), and community health were among the key topics addressed. By focusing on these areas, the aim is to ensure comprehensive and inclusive healthcare for all Kenyans.
