Reuben Kigame’s Saba Saba Day Message
Happy Saba Saba Day To all true freedom fighters of the first and second liberation, and to all patriots in the Republic of Kenya and the diaspora.
May we celebrate and also get inspired by everyone that sacrificed to give us freedom. May this day mark a collective and patriotic resolve to unite in rejecting what has continued to destroy the great people of Kenya.
On this day we begin a peaceful takeover of our country in line with article 1 of our Constitution. We did not have to protest or get to this point, but it is necessary. We have shared our hearts and clearly stated that we want a government that puts people first. we want the government to lower food prices by whatever means. We want energy costs to come down. We want jobs for our youth, especially those leaving college. We want all children to have access to education. We want investment in hospitals and other aspects of healthcare, not in the construction of houses. We already have them, and can increase them once fundamental needs are taken care of. We want a smaller government……… The current one is bloated. We want servant leader ship, not dictatorship. We want an end to corruption and scandals in government. We want a parliament that represents the people of Kenya, not a few in the executive. We want an end to careless borrowing, and making the people of Kenya to pay.
So to every one who believes in this, whether you sit in a group, peacefully, sing songs of freedom, wear a T-shirt or cap, whether you post a protest message, where are you close your private work for a day, whatever you need to do to send a strong message to government that we are headed in the wrong direction, and that we are suffering, let us do it peacefully. No violence. No throwing of stones. No fights. Let us unite in solidarity to tell the government We cannot take it anymore. Let us tell members of Parliament we no longer need them. They can as well pack and go. Text them, email them, TikTok, them, Twitter, them, Facebook them, visit them in their offices, visit them in their homes, let them know they are unwanted. They no longer represent us.
If nobody hears this, my opinion would be that it would be time for civil disobedience.
We will stay at home until something is done. We will refuse to pay taxes. We will park our cars.
We have talked enough. We have given advice enough.
Happy Saba Saba Day.
May justice be our shield and defender, may we dwell in unity, peace, and liberty, and me plenty be found within our borders.
I write this guided by proverbs, 31:8–9 we are God says we should speak for those who cannot speak for themselves.
So help us God.
