Governor Bii Commits to Supporting Arts and Music
Governor Jonathan Bii Chelilim has affirmed his administration’s commitment to supporting nurturing and growth of talents amongst the young in society.
Speaking during the Governor’s gala at Eldoret Municipality Hall on Monday, Governor Bii said he will continue to invest in the sector for a better tomorrow for young men and women.
During the event, various teams that will be representing the county in the upcoming regional music festivals performed in front of the county boss.
“It’s an honor to stand before you and share the pride and joy that fills the air,” Bii said.
“Music is a universal language that connects hearts, and has the power to uplift and bring people together,” he added.
The Governor further noted that music festivals recognize the value of arts in education by fostering critical thinking, discipline and teamwork which are crucial for the success of an individual in various aspects.
“We remain committed to providing an environment that will promote arts. We will invest and enhance the music department to create a platform for our young learners to showcase their skills,” he noted.
On her part, County Executive Committee Member for Education, Vocational Training, Culture, Gender and Social Protection Dr. Janeth Kosgei hailed teachers and all that had played a role in the success of the students that will be participating in the regional festivals.
She challenged them to work hard and focus on being the best in the region.
“I salute teachers who have worked with the learners and wish them the best in the regional games,” said the CECM.
Chief Officer for Culture Eunice Suter among other county officials were in attendance.
