Meet Jose Warka, Mugithi Upcoming Artist

Popularly known as Jose Warka in the music industry, Waweru Joseph is one of the few Mount Kenya-based Benga music commonly known as Mugithi upcoming stars who have stood against all odds of time to maintain his music brand prowess.

Having been born and raised in Kiambu County gives him an originality of the famous Kikuyu dialect which he has greatly incorporated in his music composition as well as exhibiting the trait in various occasions he has graced in live music performance.

Speaking to Vipasho News, Warka said that his music journey has been full of hurdles that only a few strong and smart individuals in this industry only make it through since most people end up giving up along the way.
“I joined the Mugithi Industry in 2019 officially when I recorded my first song, Mwari wa Otieno, both audio and video and since then, the whole journey has been full of endless challenges, especially on matters to do with music and brand marketing,” said Warka.

According to Warka, the music industry has a lot of fruits to reap for those who persevere the blows and embrace diversity and the inevitable time-to-time changes that come along with the revolutionization of this industry with time.

“To benefit from the music industry, that is Mugithi genre, you have to be flexible enough to learn various musical instruments such as guitar since they are the new norm that will help you get some cash, especially from live performances,” stated Warka.

Warka added that despite being a Benga music composer and singer, he still has other entities that keep him going such as WarkArts production which is a graphic design micro firm where he designs various types of print and graphic content such as posters as part of his plans.

“In the future, am planning to expand the service provision of this micro firm and that will give me more finances to cater for my music production since I have various songs to be released as soon as finalizing is done among them being a collabo with a high-profile Kikuyu Mugithi Maestro,” added Warka.

Other than music composition and recording, Warka says he performs live performances in various events such as weddings and clubs and anybody interested can easily reach out to him via his contacts or social media platforms.
