Mr. Gitali Wants Youths to Shun Demonstration
The Kenya Tobacco Control and Health Promotion Alliance Chairman Joel Gitali has urges youths to shun politicians who are planning to use them in demonstrations for their own selfish gain.
Mr. Gitali notes,”This is a very fragile moment for our country and I would like to urge young people to keep away from what is happening now, things to do with demonstrations.
He noted that everytime they have demonstrations as mothers cry, mourn their children that die because of these demonstrations.
“It’s so sad to see a mother crying that his son/ daughter who was to join university or was to join form one, it’s so painful to hear that young people are dying because of things that are organised, funded, and conducted by mature people and people in positions because they are fighting for political space,” he added.
He said that youths are fighting for things that they have absolutely nothing to do with these young people.
“I reiterate my appeal to young people to refuse to be used as human shields, to be used as weapons of war, to be used by politicians who have nothing to do with them,” he said.
Gitali urged not allow themselves to be given money in order to cause mayhem or destruction.
“I want to warn those politicians who intoxicate young people with drugs and alcohol, so that they can act without thinking, without reasoning, so that as they die, they gain politically,” he said.
“Every life that is lost in this time is a loss to the government because it is the government that will be blamed for any loss of life and therefore I pray that young people will use their heads and keep away from these things that bring sorrow to their families.”
