Senate Committee Reviews Garissa Water Financial Accountability and Implementation Progress
Under the leadership of Senator Godfrey Osotsi, the Senate Committee on County Public Investments and Special Funds (CPISFC) conducted a meeting to assess the progress made by the Garissa County government in executing resolutions outlined during a prior session held on June 13th, 2021. Additionally, it sought to thoroughly deliberate on management responses provided in relation to the Auditor-General’s Reports concerning the Financial Statements of the Garissa Water and Sewerage Company Limited for the Financial Years 2018/19, 2019/20, and 2020/21.
During the proceedings, the Committee acknowledged advancements made by the County Government in the implementation of recommended actions. Consequently, they issued a directive to the current Governor, urging expedited execution of pending recommendations to ensure timely and comprehensive compliance.
The meeting, led by Senator Godfrey Osotsi, was attended by Committee members including Vice Chair Prof. Tom Ojienda and Senators William Kisang, Hamida Kibwana, Tabitha Mutinda, Eddy Oketch, Ledama Olekina and Miraj Abdillahi.
