Correctional Service PS Familiarization Visit to Mathari Liason Probation Station and Maximum Unit
CorrectionalKE PS salome Beacco had a familiarization visit to Mathari Liaison Probation Station and the Mathari maximum unit at the Mathari National Training and Teaching Referral Hospital.
The liason office generates reports and provides social support to special needs offenders (psychiatric) detained or referred to the Hospital Maximum Security Unit for assessment or treatment.
The station is also involved in reintegration and resettlement of psychiatric offenders, crime and awareness creation on mental health to the community at large.
The PS commended the institution’s managers for the vital role they play in treating and caring for the offenders as well as efforts to have them reintegrated back to the society successfully.
The PS was also taken through a tour of the Hospital Maximum Security Unit where the special needs offenders are detained.
