CS Graces Horticulture Industry stakeholder’s Forum
CS Agriculture Mithika Linturi graced the Horticulture Industry stakeholder’s forum in Eldoret, Uasin Gishu County.
He said the Eldoret International Airport has a great potential of being an enabler of exporting agricultural produce out of this food bracket region.
“Agriculture and Food Authority (AFA) which is now fully constituted will engage farmers in all regions to identify their needs for the Government to effectively address them,” he said.
“I’m happy to state that my Ministry is aggressively searching for new international markets linkages for our agricultural products, and I therefore encourage farmers to produce to maximum capacity. To start with, I’ll flag off the first consignment of Kenyan Avocados to India in the next two days,” he added.
Linturi said Kenya is already exporting fresh produce to Israel and the Kenya Kwanza Government is determined to look for new markets in Israel including miraa exports to the Middle East market.
“Agriculture is the easiest avenue of growing the economy, creating jobs and eventually feeding our great nation. I appreciate my colleague Transport CS Kipchumba Murkomen for committing to accerelate improvement of Eldoret international Airport that will be an easy avenue of transporting perishable produce to the capital and beyond,” he said.
