Eldoret:Several Bar and Night Clubs Owners Arrested
Several people were arrested on Friday night in a successive operation targeting sophisticated Bars,Night clubs and liquor joints.
The reciprocal operation by the Department of liquor, County Enforcement and the Kenya National police service was aimed at clamping down on the increasing selling and smoking of Shisha in the county.
The Multi agency team ransack Baniyas square, where they arrested suspected operators and impounded several shisha pots.
The suspects were locked up at Eldoret central police station awaiting to be arranged in court on Monday.
According to the Tobacco Control Act, it is illegal for anyone to import, manufacture, distribute, be in possession and or peddle water pipe tobacco commonly referred to as Shisha,Kenya being the third country to ban shisha in 2017 joining Uganda and Tanzanian.
Multiple bars,wines and spirits from Munyaka,Kuinet Koitoror,Tuiyaluk, Kitilil, Hawaii and Sinai were seized for operating willfully to the specified span, operating without authorization and other offences intractable to the liquor license act.
