DG Officially Launches the Elgeyo Marakwet County Action Plan
Elgeyo Markwet Deputy Governor Prof. Grace Cheserek presided over the official launch of Elgeyo Marakwet County Action Plan UNSCR 1325 on women, peace and security action plan.
The Plan which spells out the localisation of UNSCR 1325 provides an opportunity to women and also men to take part in governance, peace and security decision making processes.
During the launch, Prof Cheserek lauded the initiative which serves as the foundation of Kenya’s commitment to ensuring women are at the center of peace and security.
“The launch of this action plan is a true testimony of what it means to localize the Kenya National Action Plan on Women, Peace and Security agenda,” Prof. Cheserek said.
CeCm in charge of sports and gender Mrs Purity Koima said that the County Government commits to include Women Peace Agenda in the County Strategic Plans to advance the agenda.
“Women participation in this program is key because it is not only a matter of their right to participate but also help increase the participation of local women in the peace and security efforts,” said.
Also present during the launch were Directors, County commissioner representative, Rural Woman Peace Link, Noreb representatives and CSOs.
