Eldoret: Muslim Leaders Condemn Court Ruling on LGBTQ, Call For Mass Demonstration
Muslim leaders from the North Rift region have condemned the Court ruling on LGBTQ.
This comes after the Supreme Court ruling that it is unconstitutional to limit the right to associate, through denial of registration of an Association, purely based on the sexual orientation of the applicants.
Led by Kenya National Fatwa Council National Deputy Director, Sheikh Abubakar Bini they said the move is uncalled for and ill-intended.
“As Muslim leaders, we condemn the court Supreme Court ruling on LGBTQ, This ruling is ill-intended since it’s rejected by both the Bible and the Quran. This will bring misfortunes to the Country,” said Bini.
They said they will hold a mother-of-all-all demonstration on Friday in protest of the Court’s ruling.
“Muslims across the Country will on Friday demonstrate and we also urge Christians to join us as we condemn the Court ruling. We also call upon President William Ruto to come and give his views on the LGBTQ Court ruling,” Kenya National Fatwa Council National deputy Director added.
Kassim Swaleh youth leaders said they don’t support the LGBTQ ruling and that it should be revised.
“There is no place in the Bible and Quran where a man and a man are allowed, we condemn it with the strongest terms possible and any normal person cannot allow it to happen,” Swaleh said.
“The consequences of the ruling will be unbearable for Kenyans,” said Adulzaziz Mohamed.
