Muslim leaders from the North Rift region on Friday held peaceful demonstrations to condemn the Court ruling on LGBTQ.
Led by Kenya National Fatwa Council National Deputy Director, Sheikh Abubakar Bini said the Court ruling was uncalled for and meant to demean religions that are against it.

“Today we have held a demonstration in Eldoret town, Muslim we are against the Court ruling on LGBTQ, why should the Court accept something that is not accepted by both the Bible and the Quran,” said Bini.

This comes after the Supreme Court ruling that it is unconstitutional to limit the right to associate, through denial of registration of an Association, purely based on the sexual orientation of the applicants.

“We will continue with demonstrations until the ruling is reversed, Which future are we making for our children, this is a total disgrace,” added the Kenya National Fatwa Council National Deputy Director.

Kassim Swaleh youth leaders said they don’t support the LGBTQ ruling and that it should be revised with immediate effect.

“There is no place in the Bible and Quran where a man and a man are allowed, we condemn it with the strongest terms possible and any normal person cannot allow it to happen. Our demonstrations will continue and will not tire until President William Ruto says something,” Swaleh said.

Center Against Torture Human Rights Activist Kimutai Kirui condemned the ruling.

“The consequences of the ruling will be unbearable for Kenyans if not now in the future since it’s against human nature, science, culture, and traditions, why now legalize LGBTQ,” said Kirui.
“This is an issue that must be condemned with the strongest terms possible since it is bad manners and cannot be allowed in the African setup. Kenya will be destroyed just like Sodom and Gomorrah,” he added.
