Northrift Muslim Clerics Mourns Libya and Morrocco Calamity Casualties
Muslim leaders from the North Rift region have sent a message of condolences to the family and friends of those who lost their lives in the Libya and Morocco calamities.
Led by Kenya National Fatwa Council National Deputy Director, Sheikh Abubakar Bini they prayed to God to give them strength during this hard time of mourning.
At least 2,900 people are known to have died in the 6.8-magnitude earthquake that struck Morocco’s High Atlas mountains.
The death toll from the unprecedented flooding in northeastern Libya has risen to at least 11,300 people, the U.N. has said, with 10,100 more missing in the devastated city of Derna alone.
“As Muslim leaders from the North Rift region we want to send our message of condolences to family and friends of their people in Libya and Morroco may Allah give them strength during this hard time,” said the Kenya National Fatwa Council National Deputy Director.
He said they will conduct prayers non-Friday to pray for the two countries and in honor of those who lost their lives and those in critical conditions.
“This Friday we will conduct prayers for the affected so that Allah strengthens them during this time when thye have lost their loved ones. I also urge people across the world to help them with the little thye have,” Bini added.
