KCB, County Government Partner to Train 100 Youths on Entrepreneurship
The Kenya Commercial Bank (KCB) Group has signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the County Government of Trans Nzoia to support 100 youths in entrepreneurship skills through the 2jiajiri program.
KCB will, in this program, partner with select technical institutions within the county with focus on five key sectors that are believed to hold the greatest self – employment potential which are construction, electrical, automotive services, domestic services, beauty & personal care, painting and agriculture.
This is expected to create employment opportunities for the youth within the County Aggregation And Industrial Park that is under establishment besides ensuring access to credit for county based MSMEs from the financial institution with a subsidy on the interest rate courtesy of the county government.
In his address to the delegation, H.E. Natembeya welcomed the giant financial partner and hailed it for extending an olive branch to the county government through supporting education and environmental programs.
KCB Regional Manager for the Great Rift, Victoria Kamuren appreciated the opportunity to work with H.E. Governor George Natembeya’s administration and pledged to forge ahead the cordial working ties.
He challenged the KCB Group to consider making follow ups on the youths who would be trained under the program to ensure that they find the right jobs even as he underscored the importance acquiring skilled knowledge.
The ultimate goal of the program, she noted, is to enable them to grow their businesses and contribute to the economic development of the county with the team expressing its excitement to partner with the county to expand its opportunities.
Other County Officials present in the meeting were CECMs, County Secretary Truphosa Amere and the Director of Communications Felix Sialo among others.
