Farmers profiling in Elgeyo Mrakwet Commences
The process to map value chain actors accross the County has officially began.
The 232 enumerators picked across all the 20 Wards are expected to profile and map all value chain actors in the were sent to their respective Wards in a ceremony presided over by CEC Agriculture Edwin Seroney.
The County in collaboration with the National Agricultural Value Chain Development Project (NAVCDP) the community driven development project seek to increase market participation and value addition for targeted small-scale farmers in the country who are engaged across 33 counties.
According to James Singi, from the NAVCDP project coordinating unit, the enumerators will focus on smallholder farmers.
He said The: “This project targets small holder value chain actors in the country who have transitioned from subsistence to commercial farming.”
Mr Seroney, while flagging off the enumerators urged them to be diligent in their work.
“Data you collect will inform the next phase of determining the viability of the value chains in county. I would also like to urge our farmers to give all relevant information to the enumerators,” said Seroney.
The exercise will run for the next three weeks.
