Uasin Gishu Gearing up to Become an Industrial Hub-Governor Bii
Uasin Gishu County’s aspirations to emerge as a prominent industrial hub in Kenya are evident in its multi-pronged approach that encompasses infrastructure development, skills enhancement, and strategic partnerships.
According to Uasin Gishu governor Jonathan Bii the county’s emphasis on securing adequate land, ensuring reliable access to water and electricity, and nurturing a competent workforce lays a strong foundation for industrial growth.
“The Jua Kali Federation’s unwavering commitment to empowering Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) through targeted support initiatives is commendable. The proposed acquisition of land from Kenya Railways and the establishment of a modern Jua Kali worksite at the upcoming Railways City further underscore the county’s dedication to fostering the growth of small-scale enterprises,” he said.
He noted the initiatives will not only provide MSMEs with the necessary resources and infrastructure but also create employment opportunities and stimulate economic activity.
Uasin Gishu County’s participation in the 23rd East Africa Community Trade Conference in Bujumbura, Burundi, is a strategic move to amplify its visibility and attract investments in key sectors such as hospitality, trade, tourism, and sports. By showcasing its potential to regional and international investors, the county can unlock access to much-needed capital and expertise, propelling its industrial transformation forward.
