Various nations shared experiences in combating substandard medicines, emphasizing strategies such as implementing quality management systems, automated product administration, e-registration systems, and the Med Safety App for adverse reactions.
Post-marketing traceability and cross-border focus enhance visibility and reduce substandard medicines, emphasizing proper planning for successful implementation.
The Hon. Members accompanied by Mr. John Omollo the PATH Africa Region Lead, R&D Policy and Advocacy engaged in an idea exchange at the Egyptian Drugs Authority, hosted by Dr. Miriam Boles and Dr. Sondos Moshtohry. The authority regulates pharmaceuticals, medical devices, and IVDs, ensuring meticulous tracking of items entering and leaving Egyptian markets.
The separation of drugs and food control for autonomy and efficiency was discussed, with ongoing considerations for potential reunification, prompting debates on products like multi-vitamins and their categorization.
