CEC Kirui Gives Hope to Trans Nzoia Graduates and Parents
The County government of Trans Nzoia is implementing strategies to address unemployment.
The county has also put in place plans to alleviate the financial burden on parents paying school fees.
Area Education CECM Stanley Kirui on Wednesday said through the establishment of Wamalwa Kijana Referral Hospital,many graduates in health courses will be hired to work at the facility.
Kirui was addressing academicians,graduates,parents and locals at Equip Africa College. It was during this year’s graduation ceremony in Kitale.
The college is managed by Mount Kenya University.
Kirui pledged that graduates aspiring to start businesses can access support through the Nawiri fund initiated by the county.
The executive Member said the county government has opened opportunities especially for students who pursue medical courses to be attached at the County Medical facilities.
He said Nawiri fund,which was established by the county will also give opportunity for Business Capital to graduates who want to venture into business.
He disclosed that his department has allocated sh.150,000,000 which will be used for bursaries.
This he added sponsor students from disadvantaged backgrounds.
“My department has allocated funds which will help in sponsoring students from humble backgrounds”,he said.
“All those parents whose students got 250 Marks and above should liase with my office in order to get help”.
The CECM said that his department will also start a school feeding program for ECDE pupils beginning next month.
The program the executive member said will encourage them enroll in large numbers.
Present were Mount Kenya University VC Deogratius Jagayi,Country’s Equip Africa Manager Prof.Evans Kerosi among other dignitaries.
Prof.Jagayi said 224 students graduated with Diploma,certificates and Artisans in health related courses. The previous year he said only less than 100 students graduated from the college.
He attributed the growth to quality teaching and improved training resources. Prof.Kerosi encouraged parents to enroll students at the college in large numbers.
He assured that the courses offered at the institution are market demanding. The college he said has put in place a good learning environment.
He added the institution is cost friendly considering the prevailing economic challenges in the country.
