Natembeya’s Clarion Call to Bus Park Management Team
Governor George Natembeya has called on the management team of the Kitale Bus Park to ensure sanity prevails at the terminus hence guaranteeing all stakeholders of a friendly environment to operate in.
Natembeya who hosted the Bus Park Management team at his TowHall office Thursday morning emphasized the need to maintain Law and Order at the terminus which he noted to be the face of the county.
He observed that there were unnecessary competitions among the different traders operating at the mega stage among them hawkers, bodaboda & matatu operators, itinerant traders among many and instead challenged them to work harmoniously.
“Let me disclose this to you, a small segment of the people will always benefit when chaos erupt at the expense of the majority so let us by all means avoid instigating violence at the Bus Park,” he told the Bus Park Management team.
The county boss called on the team to put their house in order so that they can ensure stakeholders benefit from the resource adding that only good leadership would guarantee this.
He reiterated his call on the bus park users and administrators to be disciplined just as he cited that nothing good comes easy.
Natembeya reminded the park management team that entails chairpersons of the different economic sectors operating within the terminus that the position of Bus Park Manager was a competitive post in the public service whose vacancy is filled with due process that also include advertising for the opening.
This made clear the notion that the occupant of the post could be handpicked, a remark that indicated there was no need of lobbying and marshalling for any individual to clinch the post that was already advertised by the County Public Service Board.
At the same time, the county chief allayed fears among the traders and their representatives that stalls at the Masinde Muliro Market, adjacent to the Bus Park had already been allocated to specific beneficiaries.
“I assure you that the process of allocating the stalls will be transparent and fair. It will be done in public limelight and you will be there to see that no intruders infiltrate,” assured Natembeya.
He further informed the traders that his earlier order, cancelling all allotments of the stalls done by the previous administration still remains in force until a fair process to identify the potential beneficiaries is carried out.
The governor affirmed that the Kitale Railway Market that is under construction among others within Kitale town will be modernized and allocated to traders so that they can do business in better environment than on the streets.
He however cautioned the traders against being duped by fraudsters to give out cash to be offered stalls in return.
