Governor Natembeya Doubles Bursary Fund to Fuel Education Dreams
Bright and needy children in Trans Nzoia have reason to celebrate as the county government doubles down on its commitment to education.
Governor George Natembeya this evening announced a staggering increase in the bursary scholarship fund, from Sh. 60 million to Sh. 150 million, at a public engagement event held at the County headquarters.

This move aims to directly address the financial constraints faced by underprivileged students seeking secondary education.
“We want to ensure that every child with the potential to excel has the opportunity to do so, regardless of their family background,” Governor Natembeya declared.
The revamped program specifically targets students from humble backgrounds who scored 250 marks and above in their primary school exams and were admitted to day secondary schools within the five sub-counties. This translates to potentially 10,000 students receiving a helping hand towards realizing their academic dreams.
Professor James Njuguna, a leading stakeholder, lauded the Governor’s initiative, emphasizing the crucial role education plays in bridging societal inequalities.
“This bursary program is a beacon of hope for countless bright minds who might otherwise be denied their rightful path to success,” he said, urging continued support for ward bursary committees to ensure fair and effective distribution of the funds.
The Governor Natembeya pledged to fulfill his earlier promise of sponsoring students from poor families who scored 250 and above and gained admission to day secondary schools within the county.
