Royal Danish Ambassador to Kenya Pays Courtesy Call to CS Water, Sanitation and Irrigation

The Cabinet Secretary Water, Sanitation and Irrigation Hon Zacharia Njeru EGH flanked by PS State Department for water and sanitation Julius Korir CBS, received the Danish Ambassador H.E Mr. Stephan in Maji House.

The meeting serves as an introduction of the new Danish Ambassador to Kenya, where he briefed the Cabinet Secretary on the existing and planned Danish engagements and partnerships with the Kenya Water Sector and also discussed the upcoming visit by the Danish Minister for Environment Mr. Magnus Heunicke soon.

Both leaders’ discussion centred on Royal Danish support to the Kenya water sector. Kenya has received close to Ksh 4.7 billion out of which Kenya contributed Ksh 1.9 billion for the program.


Danida has supported the Ministry through the Water Sector Trust Fund ( WSTF) in eight programs ranging from Kenya Water and Sanitation Program (KWSP) from 2005-2010, Medium Term Asal program ( MTAP) Phase 1 ( 2012-2014) that contributed to reduced poverty in the context of Kenya’s Vision 2030 and safeguarding the State of environment and promoting sustainable management of natural resources to the tune of Ksh 469 million and increased access to water for 165, 582 people among other projects.

In attendance were Water Secretary Eng SAO Alima EBS, Secretary Administration Mr. Stephen Kihara and Willis Ombai CEO Water Sector Trust Fund (WSTF).
