Hon Martha Wangari Receives a Delegation From the Maharashtra Legislative Assembly of India on Behalf of Speaker Wetangula

Hon. Martha Wangari (Gilgil), a member of the Speaker’s panel today represented the Speaker of the National Assembly, the Rt. Hon. (Dr.) Moses Wetang’ula to cordially engage and welcome a high-level delegation from the Maharashtra Legislative Assembly of India, led by their Deputy Speaker, Shri Narhari Sitaram Zirwal.

During the deliberations, the delegation exchanged matters touching on legislative procedures symbolizing a mutual acknowledgment and respect for each other’s democratic systems. Together, they appreciated that knowledge sharing on Parliamentary procedures is key in enhancing parliamentary practices, fostering transparency, and promoting democratic values, thereby enriching the fabric of governance.

According to statistics, India stands as Kenya’s third-largest source of imports, a testament to the robust economic partnership between two countries; India and Kenya. Collaboration between the two countries involve several sectors including education, agriculture, ICT and Innovation among others.

Hon. Wangari noted that the partnership between India and Kenya not only drive economic growth but also facilitate knowledge exchange, technological advancements, and socio-cultural enrichment.

Further it was underscore that benchmarking against the legislative practices of a nation offers invaluable insights for best practices.

“By studying and learning from each other’s experiences, we can continuously refine our legislative frameworks, strengthen democratic institutions, and better serve our respective citizens”. said Hon. Wangari.

Hon. Shri Narhari Sitaram Zirwal said that the engagement served as a reaffirmation of the commitment to fostering international cooperation, advancing shared goals, and building a more interconnected and prosperous world.
