A human rights activist in Eldoret is urging President William Ruto to intervene in the ongoing doctor’s strike, expressing concern about the suffering of Kenyans.

Kipkorir Ngetich, programs officer at the Uasin Gishu Center for Human Rights and Democracy (CHRD), spoke to the press on Thursday, criticizing the silence of the Cabinet Secretary for Health.

“I want to humbly ask President William Ruto to intervene in the doctors’ strike and look for a way to solve the matter because when it continues this way Kenyans will continue to suffer,” Ngetich said. “He should sit on a round table with the Union officials and solve the matter rather than name-calling.”

Ngetich emphasized that the doctors’ strike should not be politicized and urged a solution-oriented approach considering the impact on people’s lives.

In addition to the doctor’s strike, Ngetich also addressed the issue of fake fertilizer affecting Kenyan farmers. He called on the Cabinet Secretary for Agriculture, Mithika Linturi, to visit the affected areas and take action against those involved.

“The CS should visit areas affected. This will help him to know the situation on the ground and take stern actions against all those involved,” Ngetich said. “It’s sad that the CS is still in the office while farmers are suffering. If nothing is done, the sale of fake fertilizers will reduce production, thus leading to a lack of food.”

Ngetich’s statements highlight the growing concerns over the doctor’s strike and the impact of fake fertilizer on Kenyan agriculture. His call for presidential intervention and action from the Ministry of Agriculture reflects the urgency to address these critical issues.
