Uasin Gishu Governor Jonathan Bii conducted an unannounced visit to Ziwa Machine cereal stores on Wednesday to assess the distribution of subsidized fertilizer for the planting season. Governor Bii’s visit served to assure residents that the program is on track, ensuring farmers have access to affordable fertilizer to meet their planting deadlines.

During his visit, Governor Bii witnessed the distribution of over 7,000 fertilizer bags and expressed satisfaction with the seamless process. “I’m pleased to report that all our last-mile stores across the county have ample supplies of affordable fertilizer for our hardworking farmers,” Governor Bii said. “This ensures they can meet their planting season goals without disruptions.”

Governor Bii’s visit underscored his administration’s commitment to empowering Uasin Gishu’s agricultural sector. “My administration remains dedicated to providing the necessary resources for our farmers to thrive,” he declared. “Their success is vital to the overall growth of Uasin Gishu’s agricultural industry.”

The Governor’s focus on agriculture aligns with the county’s status as a major producer of grains and vegetables in Kenya. A reliable supply of fertilizer is crucial for maintaining crop yields and ensuring food security in the region. By ensuring timely distribution of subsidized fertilizer, Governor Bii is actively supporting the livelihoods of countless farmers within Uasin Gishu County.

Hon. Ezekiel Kodi, the area MCA, and Hon. Isaac Chirchir, MCA for Soy Ward, were also present during the Governor’s visit. Their presence signifies the collaborative effort between the county government and local leadership to ensure a successful planting season and a prosperous agricultural year for Uasin Gishu.
