Local Community Unites to Aid the Less Fortunate: Basal Tears Foundation’s Humanitarian Efforts in Kiplombe Ward
In a heartening display of communal solidarity, a coalition of organizations and individuals led by Evans Odhiambo, a dedicated human rights defender in Uasin Gishu, has come together under the banner of the Basal Tears Foundation to extend a helping hand to the less fortunate residents of Kiplombe Ward.
Their noble initiative, aimed at alleviating the hardships faced by those in need within the community, saw the distribution of food and clothing to a hundred families in the Kiplombe Sigoit area.
Joined by several sponsors including Old Uganda Road Youths Enterprise, Luhya CBO, Eldo Cleaners, Buda CBO, Kambi Karatasi PWD, and Eldo-Royal Motors, the coalition’s mission is not merely to provide immediate relief but to foster sustainable support for the marginalized.
Speaking on behalf of the initiative, Evans Odhiambo emphasized the importance of recognizing and uplifting the less fortunate, stating, “We want to stop people with disabilities to give them wheelchairs. We will also provide them with capital to start businesses, empowering them to become self-sufficient.”
Acknowledging the invaluable support of local authorities including the chief and village elders, Odhiambo expressed gratitude for their assistance in identifying those most in need within the community.
Thomas Simiyu, a member of Buda CBO, lauded the initiative as a “godly” endeavor and urged broader societal involvement in similar acts of compassion, stressing the importance of collective responsibility towards the less fortunate.
Lucy Kariuki, another generous donor, emphasized the significance of extending aid to those in need, affirming, “The heart that gives gets blessed.” She vowed to continue supporting the community’s vulnerable members, ensuring they do not go hungry.
Receiving the aid with heartfelt gratitude, Janet Wangari expressed appreciation on behalf of the beneficiaries, affirming that the donations of food and clothing would provide much-needed relief, particularly in the current challenging economic climate.
Chairman of the Village Elders, George Koech, expressed his satisfaction with the initiative, noting its positive impact on residents’ well-being and calling for continued support for the less fortunate.
Echoing his sentiments, Ezekiel Kibor, chairman of PWDS Kiplombe Ward, urged ongoing generosity towards the vulnerable members of the community, emphasizing the importance of sustained assistance.
The recipients of the aid, including Pauline Chekagt, expressed their joy and gratitude, thanking the donors for their generosity and expressing hope for a brighter future.
