Trans Nzoia First Lady Champions Women’s Empowerment in Key Meeting

Trans Nzoia County’s First Lady, Lilian Natembeya, today convened with the Trans Nzoia Women Leaders (TWL), spearheaded by CEO Immaculate Shammalah, to discuss pivotal women’s rights issues and collaborative efforts for empowerment.

The meeting, characterized by its forward-thinking dialogue, underscored TWL’s commitment to various initiatives, including school mentorship programs, addressing menstrual health challenges, and eradicating gender-based violence.

“Today’s discussion with TWL has been an inspiring testament to what we can achieve when we unite for the cause of women and girls,” expressed the First Lady.

She praised the organization for its “unwavering dedication to gender equality and the nurturing of our youth.”

A focal point of the consultation was the potential synergy between the First Lady’s office and TWL, particularly in empowering young girls and women, shaping policy, and fostering human capital development.

The meeting also delved into the implementation strategies for the newly minted gender and development policy in Trans Nzoia County, a policy to which TWL members have significantly contributed.

“We are committed to driving change and ensuring that our daughters have every opportunity to thrive,” stated CEO Shammalah. “Our collaboration with the First Lady’s office is a crucial step towards realizing our vision for a just society.”

Mrs. Natembeya expressed anticipation for future partnerships with TWL that will bolster their mutual objectives.

Notable attendees included Director of Special Programs Lucy Nyambura and Betty Khaemba, Nurse in charge of Tom Mboya hospital, alongside other TWL dignitaries.
