The Departmental Committee on Housing, Urban Planning, and Urban Development convened at the Bunge Tower to deliberate on critical financial matters pertaining to the Ministry of Lands, Public Works, Housing, and Urban Development.

Chaired by Hon. Johana Ng’eno, Member of Parliament for Emurua Dikirr, the committee welcomed the esteemed presence of Cabinet Secretary Hon. Alice Wahome alongside Principal Secretaries Joel Arumonyang and Charles Hinga.

The focus of the session was to review the Supplementary Estimates II for the fiscal year 2023/24, shedding light on budgetary adjustments and allocations within the ministry’s purview.

Among the key figures in attendance were QS David Mathu, the Managing Director of the National Housing Corporation (NHC), and Eng Maurice Akech, the Executive Director of the National Construction Authority (NCA).

Their presence underscored the collaborative effort between government agencies to address housing and urban development challenges in the country.

The Supplementary Estimates II for FY 2023/24 were meticulously examined, with a keen eye on ensuring fiscal responsibility and alignment with national development objectives. The deliberations also extended to the State Department’s 2024/25 Financial Year Estimates of Revenue and Expenditure, offering insights into the future financial landscape for housing and urban development initiatives.
