Law Society of Kenya Commends President Faith Odhiambo’s Efforts in Strengthening SGBV Court Operations

The President of the Law Society of Kenya, Faith Odhiambo, continues to demonstrate her commitment to expediting her duties with fervor and dedication. In a recent development, the Committee on the Definition of Case Types for the Sexual and Gender-Based Violence (SGBV) Court submitted its report aimed at streamlining the operations of the SGBV Court in Kenya.

The report, hailed for its comprehensive classification of SGBV matters and the formulation of Practice Directions on the Management of Gender Justice Cases, has been commended by President Faith Odhiambo. She praised the committee for its outstanding work, emphasizing the significance of these measures in advancing the strides made by the Kenya Judiciary in handling SGBV matters and supporting victims.

Acknowledging the pivotal role played by the 12 SGBV Courts across the country in addressing prevailing issues, President Odhiambo emphasized the importance of sustained stakeholder engagement. She expressed confidence that with the guidance provided by the Committee’s recommendations, Judicial Officers would be better equipped to deliver trauma-informed and justice-centered services to the most vulnerable segments of society.
