Kapseret MP Oscar Sudi Calls for Accountability Amid Scholarship Scandal
In a bold statement addressing the recent scholarship scandal rocking the education sector in Uasin Gishu County, Kapseret Member of Parliament, Oscar Sudi, has urged those implicated to take responsibility for their actions.
Speaking to reporters at his constituency office, MP Sudi condemned the alleged misuse of funds intended for student scholarships, emphasizing the need for accountability and justice for the affected students.
“It is unfortunate that some individuals have chosen to swindle scholarship funds meant for the bright futures of our students,” Sudi remarked. “These actions are unacceptable and must be met with severe consequences.”
Sudi highlighted the distressing revelation that up to KSh 2 million had reportedly been misappropriated, including funds contributed by himself to support deserving students in their pursuit of higher education.
“Instead of pointing fingers and attempting to tarnish my reputation, those responsible should prioritize rectifying the harm done to our students,” Sudi asserted. “The priority should be to refund the affected students and ensure that justice is served.”
The Kapseret MP also urged his constituents to rise above tribalism and work together to serve the community impartially.
“We must transcend tribal divisions and focus on equitable service delivery for all residents of Uasin Gishu County,” Sudi declared. “Our priority should always be the welfare and empowerment of our people, irrespective of ethnicity or political affiliation.”
Sudi concluded by reaffirming his commitment to advocating for transparency and accountability in governance, promising to continue championing the rights of his constituents and holding accountable those who betray the public trust.
The scholarship scandal has sent shockwaves through the region, prompting calls for thorough investigations and stringent measures to prevent similar incidents in the future. As the saga unfolds, the eyes of Uasin Gishu County remain fixed on its leaders, awaiting concrete actions to address the grievances of the affected students and restore faith in the integrity of public institutions.
