Governor Vows Action to Tackle Rising Insecurity in Garissa Town

In a bid to address escalating insecurity issues in Garissa Town, Garissa County Governor Nathif Jama, alongside Regional Commissioner John Otieno, co-chaired a crucial security committee meeting. The meeting aimed to strategize on measures to counter the recent surge in security incidents affecting the area.

Governor Jama emphasized the urgency of the situation, calling on security agencies to act swiftly and hold those responsible for the unrest accountable. He underscored the importance of restoring safety to ensure that Garissa Town can achieve its goal of becoming a 24-hour economy. “A thriving economy depends on the safety of both traders and customers. We need to act decisively to restore security and confidence in our town,” Jama stated.

In his efforts to garner broader community support, Jama revealed that he had engaged with local sheikhs and Ulamas. They have committed to addressing the issue of insecurity during their Friday khutbahs at their respective mosques, aiming to raise awareness and foster a unified community response.

The Governor’s proactive stance highlights the administration’s dedication to creating a secure environment conducive to economic growth and community well-being in Garissa Town.
