In a significant step towards empowering the micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) sector in Kenya, Principal Secretary of the State Department of Micro, Small & Medium Enterprises Development, Susan Auma Mangeni, has announced the release of a new MSMEs Management Training Manual. This manual is a critical tool aimed at enhancing the capabilities of businesses across the nation.

During the announcement, Mangeni expressed her satisfaction with the manual’s delivery, noting that it provides detailed guidelines and equips stakeholders with essential knowledge and skills. She highlighted that this initiative aligns with the State Department’s broader commitment to capacity building within the MSME sector, which is a cornerstone of Kenya’s Bottom-Up Economic Transformation Agenda (#BETA).

The training manual, developed with the support of the German Corporation for International Cooperation (GIZ) and the University of Nairobi, is structured into targeted modules that address the diverse challenges and opportunities faced by businesses. It covers key sectors identified under the BETA priority value chains, including Edible Oils, Rice, Dairy, Leather, Textile, Coffee, Tea, and Building and Construction.

Mangeni extended her gratitude to GIZ and the University of Nairobi for their invaluable contributions, which have been pivotal in tailoring the manual’s content to meet the unique needs of Kenyan MSMEs. The manual aims to provide practical support to boost the competitiveness, growth, and sustainability of these enterprises.

This initiative reflects the government’s dedication to an inclusive development strategy, ensuring that small and medium-sized businesses are well-supported as they contribute to Kenya’s economic transformation.
