Teams hold talks on implementation of KISIP-2 project.
With the rollout of the Kenya Informal Settlement Improvement Program (KISIP II) last week, the department of Lands, Physical Planning, Housing and Urban Development is now engaging key stakeholders on how best to implement the activities.
Today, the department held a round table meeting with the County Project Committee Team (CPCT), the Grievances Resolution Committee (GRC), a consultant and the contractor to forge way forward on the implementation process.
Speaking during the meeting County Executive in the department Janerose Mutama emphasized on then to adhere to the requirements of the donor just as she called on the assigned contractors to be mindful of completion timelines.
“The Government and World Bank projects have stipulated implementation timelines that have to be observed. There is need to fast-track the works or else will lose a big deal should the donor withdraw funding due to noncompliance.” said Ms Mutama.
She disclosed that the meeting sought to ensure that all the members of the public are fully engaged in the implementation of the project in accordance with the KISIP II and World Bank regulations.
Ms Mutama noted that the success of the program depends on the cooperation between members of the community from the informal settlements and the member of the GRC, CPCT and the contractor.
“It’s better to take time to sharpen your axes before embarking on the cutting of a tree for you will spend a little time in the execution of the work. It is time to put the best foot forward to ensure success of the project” she said.
The team also discussed on community engagements in the program with the view of ensuring that they also benefit from available job opportunities among other related incoming generating ventures.
The CECM also called on members of the public from the area to fully support implementation of the projects to enable it to meet the deadlines adding that the project has a time limit of 12 months to completion.
