KNCCI and AFA Negotiate the 2% Import Levy on Cereals
KNCCI Vice President, Mr. Mustafa Ramadhan and the Chair of Agriculture and Food Authority (AFA), Hon. Cornelly Serem held discussions on the recently introduced 2% import levy for cereals.
KNCCI expressed concerns over the levy on the milling sector given that the country imports 95% of its wheat consumption and about 800,000 metric tonnes of white maize.
The levy has put an extra strain on the already stretched cost of production for millers and players in the food sector.
We remain committed to advocating for the promotion of a favorable trade and investment environment in Kenya.
