Bishop Gathuo Condemns Kimani Ichungwa’s Utterances Against Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua
Bishop Paul Gathuo, the National Patron of the Akorino Israel Assembly of Kenya, has issued a stern condemnation of recent remarks made by Kimani Ichungwa, the Majority Leader in the National Assembly, against Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua.
In a public address, Bishop Gathuo criticized Ichungwa for his disparaging comments directed at Gachagua during President William Ruto’s recent tour of Nyanza. Gathuo described the behavior as damaging and counterproductive to the President’s efforts to uplift the nation’s economy and political climate.
“It is deeply troubling to see a leader of Ichungwa’s stature engaging in such public attacks on the Deputy President,” Gathuo remarked. He argued that such actions not only undermine Gachagua but also divert attention from crucial national issues that require unified leadership.
Bishop Gathuo’s critique extended to a call for Ichungwa’s removal from his position as Majority Leader, suggesting that his conduct demonstrates a lack of wisdom and effectiveness in representing the interests of the people. The Bishop emphasized that leaders should focus on collaborative efforts to support President Ruto’s economic and political goals rather than indulging in personal and political conflicts.
“The people of Kikuyu elected leaders to serve their interests and contribute positively to national development,” Gathuo said. “It is imperative that we put aside political differences and work towards the common good of the nation.”
Gathuo’s comments underscore a growing concern among some leaders and citizens regarding the current state of political discourse in Kenya. As the nation faces numerous challenges, calls for unity and constructive leadership are becoming increasingly prominent.
