CS Sports Kipchumba Murkomen Welcomes Participants to the 3rd Edition of Nairobi City Marathon
Sports Cabinet Secretary Kipchumba Murkomen expressed his enthusiasm as he kicked off the 3rd Edition of the Nairobi City Marathon.
Prior to the race, Murkomen participated in a tree planting initiative in support of the President’s ambitious 15 billion trees initiative, aimed at bolstering environmental sustainability in Kenya.
In his address, Murkomen emphasized the dual impact of the event: not only does it promote fitness and community spirit, but it also contributes significantly to the country’s environmental goals. “Today, as we race towards personal bests and milestones, we are also racing towards a greener future,” Murkomen said, highlighting the importance of combining athletic endeavors with environmental stewardship.
With the official ceremonies completed, Murkomen, along with the participants, is now geared up for the 10KM Expressway Run. The event has attracted runners from across the globe, all eager to test their endurance and contribute to the spirit of the marathon.
The Cabinet Secretary extended his best wishes to all runners, urging them to give their best and enjoy the experience. “Good luck to everyone participating today. Let’s make this race memorable, not just for its athletic achievements but for the positive impact we are making on our environment.”
The Nairobi City Marathon continues to be a platform for both athletic excellence and environmental consciousness, bringing together individuals and communities in pursuit of a healthier and more sustainable future.
