Nandi County Signs MoU with Emsos Technical Institute to Boost Vocational Training and Development
In a move aimed at enhancing vocational training and driving economic development, the County Government of Nandi has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Emsos Technical Institute. The partnership is designed to leverage the research and innovations provided by Technical, Vocational Education, and Training (TVET) institutions to meet the needs of a rapidly evolving job market.
The MoU signing, which took place at the Governor’s Boardroom, was overseen by County Secretary Dr. Francis Sang, who emphasized the significance of the collaboration. He noted that the agreement focuses on knowledge sharing and creating interventions to support training in the county’s Vocational Training Centres (VTCs).
“The MoU is crucial as the trainees attached to our facilities will bring with them the expertise from their fields of study, benefiting the county’s operations,” said Dr. Sang. He highlighted that the county would provide a conducive learning environment and grant students access to its facilities, enriching their practical training experiences.
Emsos Technical Institute Principal, Mark Kitongo, expressed optimism about the partnership, stating, “Through this initiative, trainees will be exposed to a working environment where they can acquire additional knowledge and skills. The industrial linkages and collaboration with the County Government of Nandi will enhance the students’ training.”
The collaboration seeks to ensure that trainees from Emsos Technical Institute will benefit from real-world experiences by working within county facilities, thereby improving their competencies in line with current industry standards. The initiative also aims to enhance the county’s workforce by equipping learners with the necessary skills for the job market.
Also present at the MoU signing were the County Executive Committee (CEC) Member for Administration, ICT, and e-Government, Isaiah Ketter, County Solicitor Advocate Letting, and Emmy Lagat, Emsos Institute’s Industrial and Linkages Officer.
This partnership underscores Nandi County’s commitment to fostering educational growth and creating a skilled workforce capable of driving economic transformation through technical and vocational education.
